One area I am always suggesting to my clients is a missed opportunity is transactional emails. These are emails that are sent as part of your website’s process, like when someone makes a purchase or signs up to your newsletter.
The emails that are generated during these processes are prime opportunities to engage with your customers. Did of you know that transactional emails get ,on average, an open rate of 70% vs normal email campaigns that typically get 17%!
A customer that has just, for example, just made an online purchase is already a fan so you can use the order confirmation email to do a number of things like:
- Suggest some related products from your store
- Offer a discount code to encourage another purchase
- Offer free shipping that can be gifted to a friend
- Ask for quick feedback on your store’s checkout process
- Promote your social media accounts
- And the list goes on…
As you can see there’s a world of up-sell opportunity here and what’s best is it doesn’t stop there! you can use this same method on the thank you pages within your website, this whole page (in some cases) is usually only used for a simple “Thanks” message. Why not make use of it and incorporate some of the ideas we’ve just mentioned.
